Plymouth has the distinction of relocating more than once. We’ll let other historians argue about whether Pokerville became Puckerville became Plymouth. But it is true that the community was westerly of downtown until 1871 when it moved up closer to the booming Phoenix (later Empire) Gold Mine. But Main, as shown, was always the route for travel westerly toward Sacramento. The name for the magnificent two-story home left in our era is the Colburn house. It dominates this view taken early in the 20th century.
