Cities throughout the world discovered decades ago that preservation of their historic inventory, buildings, homes, libraries, museums and archival collections led to a robust economy due to the invasion of tourists who came to look and study. No citizen has a right to destroy what historically belongs to all. We have already seen the construction of new buildings that simply defy any attempt at good taste and we must assume that legal measures are needed to protect us from further devastation.
