I am writing to clarify an issue brought up in the Amador county news - www.boitano.net article regarding the Amador County Historical Society and Sierra Pacific Industries (April 1 "End of the line? Sierra Pacific Industries, historical society clash over the fate of Amador's railroad"). I would like to respond to SPI regarding their statement that "they offered the Martell Train Station to the ACHS." You offered ACHS railroad records and memorabilia in the station building. However, if you offered us the Martell Train Station, we misunderstood you. We gladly accept the building, records and memorabilia; however, what about the rest of the railroad? Does the land under and around the Martell Train Station come with the offer? Do the rails to Ione come with the offer? We would also accept the donation of the entire railroad from the Red Emerson family and SPI.
