Generally, you must occupy your home, mobile home or other dwelling as your primary residence. Also, you cannot have any other exemption on the property or have a homeowner's exemption on another property in California. Normally, homeowners have until Feb. 15 to file for the exemption. The deadline was extended this year, because Feb. 15 falls on a weekend. The form to apply for the exemption is available online at www.co.calaveras.ca.us. Go to the Forms/Docs link and then scroll down to Assessor. The form also can be obtained at the office at 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. Information: (209) 754-6356.
