Protect us from ridgeline development
The Amador County General Plan Update meetings sound similar to the Sutter Creek "Visioning" workshops, which were an opportunity for residents to identify priorities for the future of Sutter Creek. We residents who attended were told the same as what is included in the General Plan notices - that our opinions were valuable and needed to determine the future of the area.
One of the highest priorities of these Sutter Creek workshops was to protect and safeguard the ridges as a visually significant component of the city of Sutter Creek. However, the city of Sutter Creek made a mistake by not placing this ridge in its sphere of influence. That mistake left this ridge in county hands and on Aug. 29 the Amador County Board of Supervisors approved development of four homes on the southern ridge by Raymond Brusatori next to his two-story Italianate brick house.
The city of Sutter Creek protested to the board's approval without success and was told to work it out with the developer. Therefore, the board of supervisors overruled Sutter Creek's vision of safeguarding our ridges and maintaining this visually sensitive area. Louis Boitano, board representative, lives in Sutter Creek and voted for this development - how could he have the best interest of his community at heart?
If you are a resident of Sutter Creek and care about maintaining the integrity, historical importance and beauty of our city, act now to prevent it from becoming another El Dorado County. Contact your representatives to prevent this development now and preserve our ridges.
