Open letter to Governor Davis

- Robert Boitano, (Cindy Boitano, mother) Jackson

Dear Governor Davis,

Would you like to buy a raffle ticket to win a motorcycle? My school has no playground equipment and my mommy says the state has no money and you guys are going to take more away from us so we are having a raffle to raise money to buy our playground equipment.

I don’t understand how my government can tell us we have to meet certain standards and use certain books but they don’t give us enough money to buy these books. Did you know we don’t have any science books because our school has no money to buy them?

Did you know that my teacher has to teach me and my first grade friends one thing and all my second grade friends something different, all at the same time in the same room? We have very little aide help in our class and our principal is in charge of two schools so my teacher takes our class time to play principal when he is gone. My mommy is worried I’m not going to pass your tests because there is no one to help me.

My mommy says there is only so much money to go around and we have to look out for other things in our government. Can you tell me who is looking out for me and my future?

Robert Boitano
