A rally scheduled this morning in French Camp to draw support for a regional office-based clinic and new nursing home for veterans was adding RSVPs through the middle of this week.

Amador and Calaveras county supervisors were scheduled to be among the veterans, medical professionals, elected officials and others attending the rally in support of French Camp as the site for a new VA nursing home and expanded veterans' health care facility.

Amador's District 5 supervisor, Brian Oneto, and Calaveras supervisors Gary Tofanelli and Steve Wilensky notified Congressman Jerry McNerney's office of their intent to attend. Assemblywoman Alyson Huber also RSVPed.

The rally will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the San Joaquin General Hospital parking lot at the intersection of Freedom and Loop roads. Freedom Road is located off Matthews Road in between the existing VA outpatient clinic and the Health Plan of San Joaquin building.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is deciding between the French Camp location and one in Stanislaus County.
