Sonora, Ca -- Due to the slow economy and state budget concerns, the Sonora City Council has decided to put on hold plans to remodel and expand the Police Department facilities.
“I'm disappointed, but at the same time know that the city is making the best possible decision considering the whole picture,” says Police Chief Mace McIntosh. The Department is hoping to make improvements to its downtown facility, as well as remodel a building at the intersection of School St. and Hwy 49.
McIntosh says he expects that the Council will take a look at the issue again in January, when it is time for midyear budget adjustments. If funding is still not available, the improvements may be pushed to the next budget cycle beginning July 1st.
