A potential candidate for Amador Supervisor

Monday, April 20, 2009

- Bob Paoluccio, Plymouth

I don't know politics. All I know is that politicians have some kind of a quest to deprive me of many freedoms that I once enjoyed and those were essentially free. One would think that our Governor, the Terminator, would have the clout to change things to a reasonable level. He hasn't. Perhaps he should have started at a lower political level, maybe a County Dog Catcher and then move up the political ladder. Pardon the pun, but he bit off more than he could chew!

I want to start at a lower level, so I am serious thinking of becoming a candidate for the next Amador County's Supervisor's election. I don't know what district I am in, I think it is in Brian Oneto's District. But that's not important. I am reasonable certain that I could easily win if I can convince my wife to support me. Doing that will be a Herculean challenge. I have lots of other friends. One at the Pokerville Market, 3 at the Village Market, four at the Jackson Rancheria Casino, one at the Amador Transfer Station, and at least two neighbors.

I have no problem with the present Board and their offices. All of them except a very few have been very courteous and efficient over the years. The Assessor, Jim Rooney, is one of the finest and can relate to the fairness with homeowners' taxes. I think that he will vote for me.

I do have a political platform. Most are too lengthy to explain with the limited words that the Ledger Dispatch will allow. One of my agendas would exclude Building Permit requirements for all of your own property construction projects not related to the primary residence. Do it yourself projects, such as a horse barn, a detached patio, a green house, the size of a Chicken Coop, a log cabin, and anything else that is in the current Building Standards would be exempt from the bureaucratic menu, fees, and taxes. I call it freedom without bureaucratic BS.
