As a small property owner in Upcountry-buyer-beware-area, I read with interest the Dec. 13 piece on the development of 44.2 acres near Tabeau Road and Highway 88. I would like the following questions answered concerning this development:
1. Who is paying the salaries of Thomas Martin & Associates and Ciro Toma, the project planner?
2. Have the people paying these salaries made any contributions or given any money or gifts to any elected or appointed official in Amador County? If so, who received what?
3. Are the people paying these bills related to any elected or appointed county officials?
4. Was a consultant hired by the developers to smooth the way for this development? If so, who?
5. Are developers exempt from the seven year moratorium on building in Amador County or from the new 1530 fire and safety rules?
The only way to keep Upcountry property owners from being trampled by developers drooling over this beautiful area is to know who those developers are and what their county connections are. If this can happen to the small property owners in Pine Grove, it can happen to anyone.
