From April 18 through April 22, Foothill Conservancy cosponsored the online Citizens Survey on Amador County Growth and Development. More than 125 local residents completed the survey. The results show strong support for
Directing growth into existing towns and cities
Protecting key local resources from water quality to scenic beauty
Using urban limit lines to ensure compact development
Requiring developers to protect agricultural land and wildlife habitat in perpetuity to make up for land they develop
Slow growth in the county's unincorporated area
Good planning and private property rights
Continued mining and agricultural use of the former Howard Ranch
The survey was intended to be easily understood by all local residents regardless of their planning expertise. It was intended, in part, to demonstrate one alternative way to involve the public in the update of the Amador County General Plan.
