I am the campaign manager for District 4 supervisor candidate David Pincus, a personal friend and volunteer. Throughout his campaign, I kept hearing the too familiar refrain "Anybody but Boitano." Needless to say, I was taken aback by the remark and found it offensive to David, who in my mind is clearly the superior candidate to serve as my supervisor going forward. However, in recent days I have been encouraged by a new response from voters in District 4. Now I am hearing things like "Dave's a pretty good guy," "he's smart" and "he's better than Boitano."
Dave Pincus was a late-comer to the supervisor's race, and although not born in Amador County, he moved to the county almost nine years ago to raise his family. A career police officer before moving here, Dave now serves on the Amador County Parole Board.
David Pincus invited me to join Business Networks International, which he was successful in introducing to the Gold Country, and in which he serves as its president. By contrast, although Supervisor Boitano sits on Amador County's Community and Economic Development Committee, he has never called a meeting.
Recently I received a "District Four News" from Louis Boitano. It was filled with statements about listening to the voters and listed several things the County needs, like more services for seniors and more jobs for everyone. What was noticeably absent was a list of any of Mr. Boitano's accomplishments during his 16 years as supervisor.
Mr. Boitano claims that he "worked to encourage clean industries and businesses to locate in Amador County," but where are the industries and businesses, and where are the corresponding jobs?
If Mr. Boitano truly supports "improved services for senior citizens," where are the improved senior programs? David Pincus and his wife, Laura, are providing full-time elder care to Dave's father-in-law, and they certainly could use the help.
It is time for new leaders who will plan, manage, and invest in the future of Amador County. I encourage the voters of District 4 to elect David Pincus as our next supervisor.
