Alpine County Board of Supervisors Chair Terry Woodrow announced that former Amador County resident Pamela Knorr has been selected to become Alpine's first county administrative officer.
"Pamela is a well-experienced person who the board feels is a great fit for Alpine County to lead us into the future," Woodrow said.
Knorr has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector, including having served as director and assistant director of Child Support Services in Placer County and supervisor/program manager for Child Support Services in Napa County. Most recently, Knorr has worked for the Texas Attorney General's Office as a regional administrator with wide responsibility for budget and personnel management activities, including hiring and promotional selections, development and implementation of business and strategic plans, economic and demographic analysis, and collaboration with judicial representatives and stakeholders. Knorr received a bachelor of science degree in management from Pacific Union College in 2002.
Knorr said she is "looking forward to working with the board of supervisors and employees and residents of Alpine County on the challenging issues facing the county. It is a privilege to be Alpine County's first county administrative officer and I am excited to accept this position." Knorr is expected to start her position May 15.
Knorr grew up in neighboring Amador County and said she is looking forward to being back in this part of California. Knorr has two sons, Alex, age 16, and Kyle, 10.
Alpine County created the position of county administrative officer in August 2007 following community input, comments by the grand jury and extensive study of the need for the position.
