The Amador Resource Conservation District is sponsoring a candidates' forum for the Amador Water Agency Board of Directors on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the County Administration Building.

Candidates have already participated in at least one forum in Rollingwood Estates.

The forum will be held in the board of supervisors' chambers and will be moderated by Amador High School teacher Giles Turner. The format will be eight questions prepared by the conservation district, which the candidates will not see until they enter the room.

The audience will also be able to submit its own questions, which Giles will organize and pick from, time permitting.

The purpose of this forum is to give the candidates a chance to elucidate their positions on a number of issues, explain their qualifications and give the residents of Amador County an idea of what the candidates feel are the important issues surrounding our water supply and the agency that manages it.

"I think it will help people determine whether they are qualified or not," said ARCD director Steve Cannon. "The last thing you want is someone running for a board position just to get good health insurance."

In a release announcing the forum, the Amador Resource Conservation District Board of Directors called water the most important resource the county needs to manage and said it hoped its forum would result in a more informed public that considers their vote carefully.

The Amador Resource Conservation District has not and will not endorse any candidate.
