Sutter Creek needs Gold Rush

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Sutter Creek needs the Gold Rush project. After 9 years of nit-picking, the planning commission has come up with a very good, tight set of conditions the developers have to live with. If they are allowed to build the 1,634 houses as requested, the city will receive a new tertiary sewer plant probably costing about $9 million, a 15-acre park, school, police station and fire station sites, a golf course, a 330-acre open space and several passive park types. The residence units will generate an annual deficit of approximately $1,000,000 but is recovered for the city from each lot purchaser. The project is out of sight, sound and back yard of the present city. The permit expires (sunsets) in 20 years.
