- Ben Klotz, Sutter Creek

I attended the August 24 meeting of the Sutter Creek Planning Commission where they voted to recommend the Gold Rush Ranch and Golf Resort. I want to commend the entire Planning Commission for their diligence in working out the best possible project for the City. Commissioner Frank Cunha made several very important points. He pointed out that the property is already zoned for development and could, in the future, have over 1000 apartments under the current zoning which would create much more traffic than the Gold Rush Ranch project.

He also pointed out that the Gold Rush project site is next to other developed property and two state highways. He concluded the site is likely to be developed at some point and after looking realistically at the alternatives, the Gold Rush Project was the best use for the land.

As I stated at the meeting, this can be a win-win situation for all concerned and I am very pleased that the Commission took the step to approve the Gold Rush Ranch and Golf Resort project.
