My own suggestion

 - Michael Nesler, Jackson

I am writing in response to Ms. Shirley Lucas' Jan. 25 letter to the editor, "Suggestions from an 'income-poop.'" I have some suggestions for a nincompoop:

First of all, I do agree that Jackson does have some problems. I don't have a solution, but demolition? Certainly, Ms. Lucas cannot be from this planet. She mentioned that it's time for big box development. Yes, that's the answer to all our problems, isn't it? You also mentioned Home Depot was a gold nugget dropped into Jackson's lap. Really? It's obvious Ms. Lucas doesn't know the difference between real gold and fool's gold.

She wrote that Jackson could provide more commercial property and concentrate on growth instead of keeping our historical look, which, by the way, she referred to as a blight. In case you haven't noticed, Ms. Lucas, Jackson is a historical Gold Rush town. People come here for that reason. I have lived here almost all my life and am proud to call it my home.

Yes, Main Street has its problems, but I believe they can be solved. Demolition, Ms. Lucas? How about we start with your home first.
