For people interested in the future of the city of Ione, the next two Wednesdays promise to be important.
Tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Ione City Hall, the Ione City Council and Ione Planning Commission will conduct a joint meeting to discuss proposed architectural guidelines for the city's historic downtown district. The council and commission hope to approach a decision about the definition of a "Mother Lode architectural style," based upon public input, their own thoughts on the matter and professional planners' opinions.
On the following Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in Evalynn Bishop Hall, residents who want to have a say in planning their city's future will have an opportunity to do just that. Three land use scenarios will be presented, offering alternative areas of the city that are being considered for future development of parks, industry, commercial development and housing.
City Planner Christopher Jordan and colleagues from his firm, Pacific Municipal Consultants, will conduct an interactive question and answer workshop.
