(AP) -- California has spent an estimated $325 million this year putting out fires, compared to $257.5 million last year. And with more than 2,000 wildfires already under their belt this year, fire authorities are contemplating the sober reality that they're not out of the woods yet. California is not even halfway through its fire season, but more acres have burned here this year than in any other. More than 1,800 square miles have burned in the state this year, compared to over 1,700 square miles that burned last year. A 53-square-mile blaze outside Yosemite National Park is about 45 percent contained after destroying more than 20 homes.
