Rescue man arrested with meth, GHB

Fifty-one-year-old Peter Kleine was arrested before the new year for possession of methamphetamine and for having a substance used as a precursor to the "date rape" drug.

On Dec. 28, El Dorado County narcotic detectives with assistance from the District Attorney's Office and California State Narcotics task force served a search warrant in the 3800 block of Pineoakyo Road in Rescue and arrested Kleine, according to a news release from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

During a search of the location, detective's recovered methamphetamine and several items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine at the residence and outer buildings. In addition, a large quantity of 1/4-Butanediol was seized. 1/4-Butanediol is a chemical compound, which is a precursor to gamma hydroxybutyrate. GHB is commonly referred to as a "date rape drug or predatory drug."

Kleine was booked into the El Dorado County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for sales of a controlled substance and child endangerment. Bail was set at $5 million.
