Plymouth bank robbed Friday, December 12, 2008 By Scott Thomas Anderson (sanderson@ledger-dispatch.com) Bank surveillance cameras captured images of an armed robbery suspect who stole money from the Plymouth Wells Fargo bank on Friday. Early Friday afternoon, the Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street Plymouth was robbed by a hooded man with sunglasses claiming to have a gun. The incident occurred in broad daylight just past 11:30 a.m. when the suspect - a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 178 pounds - came in through the doors and handed a note to bank personnel stating that he had a firearm. He was demanding cash. To further intimidate the tellers, he made a reference out loud to having a gun. After receiving a small sum of money, which the suspect immediately stuffed into the pocket of his charcoal gray sweatshirt, the suspect rushed outside and fled westbound on foot. The Amador County Sheriff's Office was soon on the scene. Detectives learned that the suspect had reddish brown hair, a beard and was wearing a white T-shirt under his sweatshirt. He also wore a pair of gloves with the word "Clive" on them. Several deputies checked the surrounding area for the suspect, including the nearby elementary school. There was no sign of him. The bank surveillance system captured several images of the man in question. Anyone with information about the crime should call the Amador County Sheriff's Office at 223-6500.
