Man Sought for Approaching Children in El Dorado Hills

Authorities around El Dorado Hills are searching for a suspect who may have inappropriately approached children twice since Friday, El Dorado County Sheriff's officials said.
El Dorado County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Bryan Golmitz said discriptions of a man who called out to a child Friday are close to those given of a man who also approached a young girl Saturday just a few miles away.
Investigators said a suspect first called out to a child near Brisbane Circle and Fitzroy Place in El Dorado Hills Friday, Golmitz said. A woman passing the scene said she stopped and stared at the man, who then left the area in a vehicle.
The suspect in the encounter was described as a white man in his 40s with long salt and pepper hair with a long beard. The man left in a vehicle identified as a black "Astro Van" with tinted windows and a white stick figure sticker on the back.
Another incident was reported Saturday in an area a few miles north at the Safeway Shopping center on Green Valley Road, Golmitz said. According to investigators, a man approached a girl sitting in a parked vehicle and asked her if she was alone. When the girl picked up a cell phone, the man allegedly got into a vehicle and left.
The suspect in that encounter was also described as a short white male in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair, a large belly and a trimmed beard. The man was allegedly driving a black late-model full-size SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade with heavily-tinted windows.
Anyone with information about the possible suspect or the vehicle is asked to call the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at 530-621-6600.
