Sonora, CA -- A bomb squad from Calaveras County has determined that a suspicious package located near the back door of the Tuolumne County Courthouse is not explosive.
Washington St. in downtown Sonora was blocked off to traffic for nearly three hours this morning, and many nearby buildings were evacuated. Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Sgt. Jim Oliver says that he is not sure what exactly was inside the suspicious package that was located by a bailiff around the seven o'clock hour, but says that it has been deemed safe. Traffic is again moving freely though downtown Sonora.
