Attempted Holdup Results In Shooting IncidentWednesday, July 30, 2008 - 07:15 AM

Jamestown, CA -- 40 year old Larry James DeRossette, Jr. of Jamestown was shot twice by officers following an early morning holdup attempt at the Whistlestop at Hwy 108 and Rawhide Rd.
At approximately 2:30am DeRossette was allegedly spotted near the Willow Restaurant on Main Street but quickly disappeared. Later the Whistlestop clerk reported he was being robbed. When CHP officers and Sheriff Office's deputies arrived, DeRossette headed for the nearby creek where he pulled a weapon. At that time he was shot twice by officers.
DeRossette is currently undergoing surgery at Sonora Regional Medical Center for wounds to his leg and abdominal region.
The officers were not harmed. At the hour the crime scene investigation is continuing.
