A California Highway Patrol officer was on Highway 88 near Silver Lake when the red pickup truck driven by Marc George DuBois nearly slammed into him. When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, it sped away and a pursuit ensued eastbound toward Kirkwood. DuBois, who was on parole, reached speeds that rapidly exceeded 100 mph as he cut a reckless path by motorists and snowplow operators clearing the highways. CHP units from South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County sheriff's deputies joined the chase, which ended when DuBois intentionally rammed a Douglas County sheriff's unit. Law enforcement converged on the resistant suspect, who now faces felony charges in three different counties. Authorities found drugs and drug paraphernalia and determined DuBois to be driving while intoxicated. There were no injuries in the chase.
