Female Drivers Attacked At Night On NorCal Roads

Authorities are warning motorists not to stop in dark, remote areas of Sonoma County after a series of incidents in which women have been attacked or followed by a male driver.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department says the latest attack occurred on Saturday at 1:30 a.m.

Authorities say a woman pulled over on a Bodega Highway near Sebastopol after a man in a dark, four-door sedan repeatedly flashed his lights, pulling alongside her saying her car had a leak.

The woman stopped, found no problems and got back into her car. That's when authorities say the man attacked, grabbing her neck and leg. She fought back, managed to escape and drive to the police department.

The sheriff's department says it is the sixth incident in which a woman driver was followed, threatened or attacked on dark Sonoma County roads since November.
