Cops say teacher threatened

A 14-year-old boy was arrested and taken to an out-of-county juvenile detention center Thursday for allegedly threatening his teacher, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office reported.

At 10:16 a.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the Community Day School on Shaws Flat School Road following a complaint about an "out of control" student, according to sheriff's logs.

The boy reportedly threatened to burn down a female teacher's home and have her beaten up, said Sheriff's spokesman Dan Bressler.

The boy was arrested and released to the Tuolumne County Probation Department juvenile division, Bressler said.

From there, he was detained in a juvenile hall out-of-county, said Leanna Salazar, assistant chief probation officer. Salazar declined to disclose the location of the facility or what grade the boy was in school.

From here the probation department will get the police report and then discuss with the District Attorney what charges will be filed, Salazar said.

He should go to court sometime next week and a judge will make a determination of next steps.
