A 12-year-old girl was almost the victim of a kidnapping in Diamond Springs last week. The victim, a student at the Diamond Springs Christian School in the 6000 block of Enterprise Drive, was retrieving some personal property from the playground area around 3:45 p.m. Feb. 27, when a man drove by in a pickup and spotted her. The suspect turned his truck into the school's parking area and drove within a close distance of the young girl. The older white male, described as bald and wearing eye glasses, exited his truck and walked to the rear of his vehicle, where he asked the girl if she wanted some candy.

When the young girl refused, the suspect reached out in an attempt to grab her. The young girl ran back to the office and reported the incident.

Deputies arrived and searched the area without locating the suspect. The suspect's vehicle is described as an older red Ford Ranger with a gray colored tailgate. Anybody with information should contact the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at (530) 621-6600.
