SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Rocklin police detectives arrested two women Tuesday accused of identity theft.In October, a visitor from Alaska had her purse stolen while in Rocklin, police said. A check book and credit cards were in the purse and were used to make over $2600 in purchases throughout the Sacramento area. Items purchased included gift cards and electronics.After a lengthy investigation Rocklin detectives said they cracked the case when one of the stolen checks was used to purchase a burglar alarm permit in Sacramento County.
Police said detectives served a served a search warrant in the 6500 block of Meader Avenue in Sacramento and arrested two women on charges of conspiracy and identity theft Tuesday morning.Earlene Turks, 41, of Sacramento, was arrested on charges of identity theft, burglary, passing fraudulent checks and conspiracy.Delia Soto, 42, of Sacramento, was arrested on charges of identity theft, passing fraudulent checks and conspiracy.Turks is currently being held at the Placer County Jail on $25,000 bail while Soto is being held on $10,000 bail.
